Imperia

Oneglia is one of the larger council areas in Imperia and feels like a separate town. The Olive Oil Museum, on grounds of the Carli Brother's renowned oil company in via Garessio, houses a collection of oil-related paraphernalia, tracing the flavor and success of Liguria's finest export through history. The charming fishing village of Cervo is well worth a visit for its Baroque church, one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture west of Genoa. An imposing statue of Our Lady disappears from view upon arrival at the place of worship. At the end of the 19th century the public "Città di Rosario" Gardens was set up in an old wood, and it blends exoticism with the character of the former convent garden, a stone’s throw from the sea. At the beginning of the 20th century the old olive grove Park of the Prefecture Palace became the verdant park of a luxury hotel, which subsequently became a public building, headquarters of the Prefecture.
