Oostende

Ostend is the largest coastal city in Belgium with something to offer everyone visiting this city from historical monuments to museums and shopping centers. Just outside the city along the beach is Atlantikwall, which is a complex of tunnels and bunkers built and used by German forces in both World Wars. Also in the area is an archeological site of a medieval fishing village from the 13th and 15th century. Another noteworthy attraction is Fort Napoleon, which is the only completely intact Napoleonic fortress left in Europe from 1810. There are numerous classical and modern art museums in the city, churches, monuments and other local attractions to keep any traveler busy for days on end.
