Once an imperial residence, Worms sits proudly on the banks of the River Rhine. Like other cities in the region, Worms is of great historical significance. She has been home to the Celts, the Romans, the Huns, has been razed by the French and bombed in World War II. Worms is also one of the major sites where the events of the Nibelungenlied , a medieval German epic poem took place. Today, they have yearly festivals commemorating the poem and the events that took place in Worms.
