Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina is a country located in the heart of southeast Europe on the Balkan peninsula. Formerly part of Yugoslavia, Bosnia and Herzegovina gained independence in 1992. The Bosnian region is in the north and center of the country and is a mountainous region covered with thick forests. The Herzegovina region is located in the south, and is primarily covered with rugged farmland, with a small portion along the Adriatic Sea. The vast untouched expanses of nature make this region an ideal destination for nature lovers and adventurers. It is a paradise for whitewater rafting, hiking and walking, as well as for skiers and snow-lovers in the winter. Natural thermal springs are plentiful, making spa tourism popular in the region. The land is a sacred crossroad settled over 10,000 years ago, with a rich history and cultural heritage. Bosnia and Herzegovina is an exciting destination sure to please any type of traveler.
