Peenemunde

To visit Peenemunde is to step into a very significant part of WWII history. It was here that V1 and V2 rockets were formulated, tested and launched. Now there is not much to be seen of the factories where the rockets were made, as the allied forces destroyed the major development sites. However, you can still see a bunker, some smaller rockets and a power plant. There is an information center to learn more about the significance of Peenemunde's role in the war,  and you can visit the old site of the V1 launch. Nearby, in the harbor, you will see old Soviet submarines.
