Igaliku

Igaliku is a settlement in the Kujalleq municipality in southern Greenland. Most notably, it was an important religious center in the days of the Vikings and the ruins of the cathedral they built in th 11th century are one of the town's highlights. Many Greenlanders have vacation homes here, understandably given the idyllic alpine surroundings. It's also a good base for hikers; several good day hikes and multi-day treks leave from here, including a five-day trip to Qaqortoq via Hvalsey.
