Völklingen

The Völklingen Ironworks, UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1996, sprawls across the city as the last example of 19th and 20th century ironwork production sites that were organized within city limits, integrated into the metropolitan design. The Ironworks are no longer in production and are now a museum, as well as an event venue during the summer months. Boating activities on the Saar are also nearby.
