Porec

Porec has a myriad of activities and sites to occupy yourself with, be it indulging in local, traditional cuisine and Istrian wine, or relaxing under a summer night sky in an outdoor concert outside of the 6th century Euphrasius Basilica. Remains of antiquity are scattered throughout town; visit the Marafor square to see temples of Neptune and Mars from the 1st century, or the Porec tower, built in the 15th century as fortifications against Ottoman attack. With over 2,000 years of history, Porec's streets are laden with remnants and pieces of times' past. Hop on a bike to get some fresh air, as many cycling trails are nearby: the Euphrasiana Trail snakes along the Istrian coast, the St. Mauro trail that takes you through the town and its outskirts, or the St Michael Undrer Ground trail, possibly an ancient Roman route beginning in Kašteli. Marine attractions include wreck diving or diving the various shoals off the coast.
