Caral

Located approximately 115 miles north of Lima, Caral is a 200 acre site of archeological importance that dates back 4,600 years. The site of Caral and 18 other sites make up the Supe River Valley and what is now called the Caral-Supe Civilization-the earliest known urban settlement in the Americas. Recent excavations have revealed over 30 monumental structures and the main pyramid stands over 60 feet tall.
