Casares Casares is a postcard village that sits dramatically on the edge of a cliff where all the buildings are painted white. It’s located in southwestern Malaga, Spain in the mountains and near the Rio Genal Valley. Legend has it that when Julius Caesar visited the surrounding area where Casares stands today, the sulphurous and alkaline water he ingested cured the skin infection he had since childhood. Towards the end of the 18th century, the Duke of Arcos reclaimed the town from the Moors and is now a protected historical town. Casares also birthed Andalusia’s national hero Blas Infante Perez de Vargas. |
