Gargas Behind the magnificent vineyards and pine-covered hills, 19th century ocre quarries that sparked the economy for Gargas, still stand in operation to this day. Ocre is a natural earth mineral that ranges from yellow to brown pigments. Although, the town itself is not covered with this yellow to brown hue, it’s greatest discovery were traces of human habitation dating back to 6,000 – 2,000 BC. |
