Chinon

Sitting on the banks of the Vienne River is the "garden of France" also called Chinon. Well known for its wines and castles, this historic medieval town has served both French and English royalty like King Henry II in 1189, Joan of Arc in 1429 and Duke of Richelieu in the 16th century. in 1968 it was registered as a preservation area and is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
