Hassan Hassan is a district in the state of south western Karnataka, India. Between the 10th and 14th centuries, Hassan was a glorified seat of the Hoysala Empire and was named after the Goddess Haasanamba, a deity that presided the town. Many of its revered architectures can be found in the city such as the statue of Lord Gommateshwara, the Hoysaleshwara Temple, and the Hemavati dam in Gorur. |
