Panarea Panarea is the second smallest island of the Aeolian archipelago, north of Sicily, Italy. This exclusive and remote island was inhabited by the Mycenaeans in 1,200 BCE and settled by the Romans. It was originally named Euonymus and changed to Hycesia. A village from the Bronze Age discovered in 1948 still stands in Panarea and is well-preserved and often explored. Situated by the Sicilian coast, Panarea is also popular for the beautiful pristine ocean waters and the colorful marine life, perfect for scuba divers. Visitors travelling to Panarea can get around via motorbike or golf cart. |
