Rocamadour

Rocamadour is a small medieval village with a dramatic setting, perched on cliff side across from the Dordogne in the Lot department. This grand site of France is a popular destination, built on the site of a shrine to a Madonna, and is a stop on the pilgrimage path to Santiago de Campostela. Visit the monastic buildings and churches, stroll along the main street lined with medieval houses, and climb all the way up the Grand Escalier and drink in the impressive views of the old town. Racamadour is also famous for its unique goat cheese.
